Drive CPC Qualification

Are you a professional driver or looking to become one? The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is a mandatory qualification for professional bus, coach, and lorry drivers in the UK and across Europe. At Lancing Driving School, we provide comprehensive and engaging Driver CPC training to help you meet the legal requirements, enhance your skills, and boost your career.

What is Driver CPC?

Driver CPC was introduced to improve road safety and maintain high standards of driving within the professional transport industry. It’s split into two parts:

  • Initial Qualification: Required if you’re new to professional driving and obtained your vocational licence (Category C1, C, D1, D) after specific dates. This involves passing a series of modules covering theory, practical skills, and hazard perception.

  • Periodic Training: All professional drivers must complete 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years to keep their Driver CPC current. This ensures your knowledge and skills are up-to-date with the latest regulations and best practices.

Who Needs Driver CPC?

You need a Driver CPC if you drive a:

  • Lorry (Category C1, C)

  • Bus or Coach (Category D1, D)

This applies to you if you drive these vehicles professionally. There are some exemptions, such as driving for non-commercial purposes, but most professional drivers will require the qualification.
